Hello friend! I'm a Canadian artist, illustrator, and writer. I taught Art and English across Alberta - in Jasper, Red Deer, and St Albert. My lovely students ranged from elementary kids, to teens and adults. For many years, I painted in gouache, collage, and encaustic and sold my paintings locally, and to people around the world. After health issues made large scale art difficult, I began to explore a new passion - writing and illustrating children’s books. I'm an active member of SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators), and CANSCAIP (Canada's Children's Writers and Illustrators Society).
I love to visit quiet woodlands where I take photos and fill sketchbooks with drawings from the underbrush. Pine cones, twigs, mushrooms, flowers, and tiny woodland creatures have always proved more fascinating to me than sweeping vistas.
These peaceful moments in the forest are the inspiration for my upcoming series of four picture books related to nature and the seasons. They are all set in a miniature forest world. My debut picture book, “Warmest Winter Heart” has just been released on Amazon.ca.
This is one of my favourite photos. It was taken in a cute little cafe in France and was a moment of exquisite happiness. French pastries and a café au lait. C'était parfait!
